BIO
Artelia Green braids together Frisco swagger, Arkansas roots and Yoruba remembrances to curate critical thought and action. Our band merges reverberating funk & gospel-vamping with brass and djembe as a way to invite listeners to embrace the truth of Black suffering and transcendence—to craft more accountable and responsive relationships with our necessary grief en route to a different time, space, and place.
AG functions as a renaissance of neo-soul sensibilities: skilled musicianship, layered with the spirit of social transformation and camaraderie to challenge the reproduction of anti-Black political momentum in the United States. The band uses music production and performance as a way to raise awareness of anti-black policy and offers rhythmic medicine toward black wellness.
Artelia Green is a 10-piece band (also able to offer a smaller arrangement) with high energy and high intensity sets - we build the energy of a crowd by performing original music fused with coordinated performance & tight transitions that incorporate elements of our musical inspirations (like Funkadelic, Lauryn Hill, The Roots, Cory Henry, Earth Wind & Fire, and so many more). We are available to curate sets ranging from 15-minutes to 2-hours.
